Biblioteca Abogacía
The Digital Library of Lawyers has been created within the framework of the Institution's Strategic Plan (2016-2020). The inspiring principle of the measure was, and is, the principle of equality of arms. Equality of arms in the process is a projection of the broadest principle of equality before the law, and is inextricably associated with equality in access to information sources for all members, regardless of their place of membership. In this sense, the removal of the obstacles that impede knowledge in conditions of equality between lawyers is but a logical corollary of equality of arms. In order for lawyers to have equivalent means of information in the articulation of their professional strategy, without physical, temporal or geographical limitation, they must be able to access a common digital library, regardless of their specific membership.
La Abogacía Española It has used all the means at its disposal to create an excellent intercollegiate digital library, which ensures equality of arms in the process through equal access to information sources.
The Library has three pillars of content:
- A pillar of commercial content (agreements that the Council has reached with Publishers to have their works on loan);
- Contents of own institutions (the CGAE Magazine, its reports from the Legal Commission, the Foundation's guides, etc. plus the contents of the Associations that also want to join their magazines and materials);
- Content subject to agreements with third-party producers of quality legal content (Institutions, organizations, associations, foundations, etc. that produce quality legal content which, most of the time, is already available on the internet)
The objective of the Digital Library is to become the reference discovery platform for members, promoting a quality legal culture and showing users all the resources available to them and which, many of the times, they were unaware of.
