The world of tomorrow is here ...
This article reflects on what geopolitics will be like after the coronavirus. His main thesis is that this crisis will reinforce pre-existing trends rather than suppose a turning point in international relations. In particular, it explores what the future of globalization and neoliberalism will be like, underlining the greater role of the state and the withdrawal of certain global production chains; reflects on the evolution of world governance and multilateralism, which was already in crisis before the pandemic due to the rivalry between China and the US; and advances proposals so that both the EU and European democratic political systems can be better prepared for serious and unforeseen risks such as pandemics
