El ransomware is a type of malware (with (malicious) that aims to block the use of the device or access to the information it contains, in order to then demand a ransom in exchange for its "release." Although it first appeared in the 80s, it is now growing exponentially. It can affect any user, business, or activity that can pay to have their information returned.
