Human Rights Classroom

With the aim of extending the use of human rights approach In legal attention, since 2014 we have organized training sessions.  

This project represents a space for direct collaboration between the Lawyers Foundation, the 83 Bar Associations throughout Spain and different civil society organizations. In order to promote the knowledge of lawyers on how to provide effective legal attention to all those vulnerable groups in society.

The topics we address in the Human Rights Classroom are the following:

  • Rights of the elderly.
  • Access to justice in environmental matters.
  • Persons with disabilities in judicial proceedings.
  • Legal action: detection, identification and protection of victims of trafficking.
  • The role of the legal profession in the prevention of torture. Article 174 of the Penal Code and the part of injuries.
  • Legal intervention in the international protection of refugees in Spain
  • Right to Housing: Protection against evictions for vulnerable people. Latest News on unfair mortgage clauses. Basic elements in the new State Housing Law.
  • Legal action against hate crimes and discrimination in Spain.
  • Good treatment of children in legal proceedings.
  • Criteria for admissibility before the European Court of Human Rights
  • Procedural guarantees of detained persons
